Since early this month my crawl numbers have dropped quite a bit... I am curious what the reason are for this and if I should worry? I have added more links to other sites on my page that are helpful for my own site. Could that be part of it?

It doesn't matter but if it's not crawling at all than that can be a problem. If the number of crawls reduce, it could be because there's not much happening on your site.

Sometimes your web page/sites having a trouble in google. I think by means of installation. Or script that you used is not compatible.

Have you recently updated your sitemap ?

Crawl rates are normally specified in the sitemap, some bots will ignore it, others will adhere to it.
