Upgrading to Ubuntu Quantal

If nothing else, there's always the dotdeb repos for PHP 5.4 too but be aware that you may face issues with MySQL versions (I know I have on my local 12.04 install).

I forgot all about dotdeb. I was just thinking about it last month and I guessz I forgot between then and now. Updating mysql doesn't really interest me since 5.5 is already running and it's from a different repo and company. PHP is all I want to upgrade a bit.

By the way, know that PHP 5.4 could cause some errors in MyBB. I'm counting on 1.6.10 releasing soon, seeing as almost every bug for .10 is fixed.

1.6.10 isn't too far off IIRC. Just needs some SQA work and it'll be done I believe. I've been waiting for it too as PHP 5.4 is my preferred version right now thanks to some of the great new features and the speed increase I've noticed on my servers.

It really took almost a year to support 5.4? 5.5 betas are out now :\

Most webhosts still use PHP 5.2.17.

Most of the changes needed require thorough testing. Rasmus Lerdorf (original author of PHP) was the one who provided us with most of the fixes for PHP 5.4 support (and overall a performance increase) so there were places which were broken or not working as expected.
No longer involved in the MyBB project.
