I think they want the avatar of the user that posts the thread and the avatar of the last poster in the thread to be displayed beside the username.

What has Advanced Sidebox to do with forumdisplay avatar?
Try this plugin: http://community.mybb.com/thread-122756.html and add the correct variables to templates.
