Hi, honestly I've tried all non-paid ad plugins that claim to do this and can't get any to function. The latest one I've tried is PostAd(lite).
I understand there was an error on line 129 per this thread: http://community.mybb.com/thread-125186....%28lite%29
I modified the error and still get nothing. I'm open to any suggestions as to how to go about this. I hardcoded my ads in the header and footer templates with no plugins and they work fine; but have had no success with implementing ads in the first post. BTW, the forum is http://kritterbox.com
If someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
TIA,
JR

Glad I'm not the only one. None of the unpaid advert plugins are working with 1.6.9 unless there are some I'm unaware of. This is definitely an issue that needs addressing.
Just hoping someone has an answer, or a modification of an existing plugin that actually works.
I've searched for 2 days and can find nothing, I try to avoid posting frivolous threads (i.e. duplicate questions made on other posts) but I came up empty handed on this issue.

Use xthreads from http://mybbhacks.zingaburga.com .
You'll have the possibility of setting a separate template for the first post of a thread.
Do that.
Add the ads in that template.
Profit.
Yes, it's more complicated, but it works.

Thanks a million Syryus looking into it now! I'll report back if I have any luck - or no luck at all, in implementing this.

If the above does help, please remember and mark this thread as solved.
Thanks!

It doesn't exactly solve the problem for us as it messes with our format...
From mybbhacks.zingaburga.com
Quote:showthread - inserts {$first_post} before {$posts}; in XThreads, it's possible to customise the first post differently from other posts (requires the forum option "Show first post on every showthread page" to be set)
That's not really an option for us, I want to keep the format "as-is" for many reasons. We have a large forum and people become grumpy when you change the format. I honestly wish I could could mark this thread as solved Euan.
Still looking for something that functions and doesn't require a radical format change.

It doesn't radically change anything. You just get to add more things, fi you want. Just copy the template of your current postbit and add your ads there, then set that option on the forums you need and voila, same template + ads.
xthreads doesn't actually do anything to your templates unless you set it up to do so.

It's possible I misunderstood the Quote: "requires the forum option "Show first post on every showthread page" to be set"
I'll give it a whirl and see how it pans out, if I'm successful I'll write a description of how I did it so others can benefit from this.
I'd love to get this solved!
