Recent surge of a specific kind of spam bot

Hello.

In the past month, we've gotten a sudden surge of spam "bots" (or at least I think they're bots) - before that, we'd been completely clean of any spam bots for at least a year.

The strange thing is they all seem to have the EXACT same style of thread. They'll create one in our "Introduce yourself" board with something along the lines of;

"Hi, great website/info/content/thank you for the stuff/etc.

... And visit my site/check this out/click this for more info/etc.. <spam link>"

Pretty much this exact template 100% of the time. Here's a screenshot of one:



Any ideas?

are you using security questions for signup and any other plugins to prevent bots registration & spam posting (eg. checkbox validation)
I'd suggest to replace registration security questions text with low resolution images containing questions
