Setting subscription method to instant email notification...affect ?

does this affect all previous posts as well? or only posts from the moment you select it?

i mean... if i turned it on now, and someone posted in a thread i'd posted in yesterday, would i get a notification? or is it set from the moment it's turned on?

ahhhh... i understand now i think.... if the option is selected, then when you go to post in a thread, that is the option that will be selected by default.... yes? okay. i think i get it now. if i'm wrong, please correct me. if i'm right, let me know.
