Pretty sure there's a setting that you caan disable the portal. There's also a plugin that disables it.

If you read the rest of the thread you would know that there's a problem with disabling the portal with a plugin.

It is a problem with the theme, disabling the portal works anyways mentioned here.

Drop this in your .htaccess:

<Files /portal.php>
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from 127.0.0.1
</Files>
Untested, but should work.

The request to the portal.php file is done via JavaScript so that wouldn't work.
