Why always 7-10 users online while being close!

I set my forums community as close but it's like 12 hours now that I always see more than 7-9 users always trying to registering - I put security questions, registration time and other configurations to avoid spammers to auto-register!

But the weirdest thing is that I see users trying to register while the forums community is set on close! 

P.S. I forgot to say that I also disallowed registrations more than 9 hours ago!

They try to register and they cannot register. What's the problem?

they're not registering, it just means there on the register page

Its most likely some form of registration/content bot. I've had like 50 or more guests online even being closed. They are trying to join your site regardless of whether its in maintenance mode or not. Maybe try blocking some of their IP ranges.

It's not only the issue with 1.8. Must be the bots. They won't be able to register though
