I just took over this forum and am very new to doing this, so my apologies. THere is a marquee on the forum page that I need to update. I have no idea where to find the script. I have attached the location via screen shot. The URl is http://bwsvw.org/forum/index.php . Where do I start. I don't know where to find the version of BB.

Version of MyBB is shown on the ACP (Admin CP) index page.

You can change the marquee in headerannounce template, which should be in ACP -> Templates & Style -> Templates -> Global Templates

Sorry, that didn't help. This is the first page I  see. Can we start from here?

This is not MyBB's Admin CP...

Open http://bwsvw.org/forum/admin/ and login there.

I got there and this is what I saw. I wouldn't know how to edit it. I want to change the marquee words.

forum admin panel >> configuration >> settings

there should be header announcement settings or something similar at right side of page.
clicking on that should load a form with the announcement content, which can be changed as required ..
