Upgraded to 1.8 from 1.65 and now whenever we try to register a new account, we receive this message:

"Our systems detect that you may be a spammer and therefore you have been denied registration. If you feel this is a mistake, please contact the Administrator."

Have attempted with different username, email address and from another IP address, but still will always respond with the above message.  I have disabled all spam filter plugins but as I say, keeps stating the above.

Any ideas?

thank you

Do you have the StopForumSpam feature turned on? if so, please disable it as there is a known bug: https://github.com/mybb/mybb/issues/1441

OK, but where do I check this?  Is it a plugin?  If so, I do not have that active - also in the code modification you mentioned on that link, where abouts is the location of this to alter to "result"?

ACP > Configuration > Settings > Stop Forum Spam Settings > Set all to "No". The link above is to the GitHub issues report and the subsequent fix that will be applied in the next release of MyBB. You should not attempt to apply the change if you do not know what you are doing.

Yep - all those are set to "NO" as you said, but still experiencing the same rejection message.  Even if you fill in none of the fields and simply submit the form, it will state I am a spammer.  Maybe it is the IP address (even though I have tried another) - I endeavour to be offsite at a different location later so I will try again there.

Am stuck on this one
