If the image doesn't get loaded, or the user hasn't specified an image, it results in this: http://someimage.com/27OuWIg

This is happening to me how may I fix ?

If the user doesnt specify an image how does it load.the field remains blank.
Then....

And if you paste the proper url of the image with extension then i dont think there will be any error if you followed all the steps.

Add a fallback background image:

Can't i let users choose their own and upload their own background because I just tried myself in user CP and it doesn't work at all! ? :s

I used this directly in the template:

<div style="background: url({$userfields['fid4']})"></div>

After you just need to create a custom profile field (in this case I've used the fid4 because I don't have more than the 3 normal profile fields that comes with MyBB by default, in your case you need to check if you have more or less and add an extra, look the id number and then replace the number in the template, like I do).
