Upgrade problem on 1.6 to 1.8

Please anyone who can help on the steps to follow on the upgrade of 1.6 to 1.8 will be greatly appreciated. I need instructions or tutorial video or anything helpful. I only get the welcome page on the upgrade screen and it wont pass that level as it refreshes and returns to the same page. Please any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MyBB 1.8 files should be uploaded to your forum files server by overwriting existing 1.6 files.
if the files are not correctly replaced then such issues can happen. ensure that files are fully uploaded.
