Delete a thread within a forum?

Sorry this might sound fairly basic but I just can't figure out how to delete a particular thread?
One of my members posted a thread twice, so how do I delete it?

You can delete it using the thread tools at the bottom of the thread. Additionally, deleting the first post of the thread should delete the whole thread.

I deleted the first post but the thread is still there in the forums. It won't open but the title is visible.

^ recent versions of MyBB have soft delete feature (like recycle bin of windows OS) but there is a bug which will be fixed in a forthcoming release
