MyAlerts v2.0.4
Not very easily, no. The alerts themselves are loaded in by an AJAX request.

How could I try to achieve putting them in a sidebar?

Upload "alerts.php" to the root of your forum (next to index.php, forum display.php, etc)
Upload everything in "inc" to the "inc" folder, the contents of "images" to "images", etc.

Upload this file to "inc/plugins/MybbStuff/Core/ClassLoader.php": https://raw.githubusercontent.com/MyBBSt...Loader.php

Upload PluginLibrary as described here: https://github.com/frostschutz/MyBB-PluginLibrary

Why not edit the first post of this thread and INCLUDE that ^^ post (quote) ?
also, why not add that ClassLoader.php in the master ZIP ? or is it ONLY NEEDED by "some" and not everyone ?

Is it somehow possible to "unsubscribe from a topic" or get a new functiong to do so?
E.g. you get a notification for every reply someone makes on your thread, but at some point you decide you don't want any notifications anymore, so you simply "unsubscribe/un-alert" that thread and you won't get any alerts.

And it would also be cool if there would be an option which allows you to get alerts for a specific forum, e.g. "get alerts of new threads for this forum".

You would edit the myalerts.js file to load the contents of the popup via AJAX and replace the contents into your sidebar.

The ClassLoader.php file is included if you download from the mods site (which is currently an outdated version until I publish a complete new version). It's not included in-branch in the GitHub repository because it's used by other projects and it's a good idea to host it in a separate repository.

I am adding the install docs to the OP.

There isn't any function like that for topic author notifications at the moment, but I can see why it would be useful. I'll consider adding that.

Forum subscriptions have been requested before, and are something I might add.

I don't know if somebody else had this problem. I have followed the steps for installing the plugin but I can't see the alert types:

^ @Mipher have you tried uninstalling & reinstalling the plugin ..
if you have used MyAlerts plugin from the Extend section then can you try it from GitHub ..

Yes I tried. I followed the steps given by Euan T, so I downloaded the master release from GitHub and created the ClassLoader.php file.

If it can be useful, I tried to remove this condition in the file AlertTypeManager.php

foreach ($alertTypes as $alertType) {
	if ($alertType instanceof MybbStuff_MyAlerts_Entity_AlertType) {
		//if (!isset($this->alertTypes[$alertType->getCode()])) {
			 $toInsert[] = $alertType->toArray();
		//}
	}
}

and reactivated the plugin. It created the alert types, but I know it's not a solution..

Interesting, I will look into the reason for that. If the alert types now exist, everything should work now.

I noticed a little problem with avatars that use gravatar (specially when you use the DVZ Random Avatar plugin and many users have gravatar). The htmlspecialchars_uni function converts this url:

https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/0f5df98dec8be65ac91a0cdfd21a5166?s=130&d=identicon&f=y

in:

https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/0f5df98dec8be65ac91a0cdfd21a5166?s=130&d=identicon&f=y

Making the gravatar invalid, returning always the default gravatar.
