ability to easily modify mybb email messages
#1
from my understanding, a bunch of language files need to be edited in 1.8.X to accomplish this. it'd be very nice if everything mybb sends out via email/PM could be contained within a tab in the admin cp and then easily editable.

you won't believe how many people on my forum respond to the automated email alert about a new private message....

It would be nice, because of as of right now every time you upgrade your copy of MyBB and have a custom email template set it'll revert itself.

Or better yet...

We all know about the ability to customize settings via the ACP.

We could have a settings group dedicated to languages, allowing you to set a custom template for a specified language file. So if you have a setting set in your ACP for that language file it uses that instead of the values inside of the language file. (Hope this doesn't sound too complicated)

This would work better in the language panel, was just using this as an example.

My plan is for emails to be templates (which would allow styling for HTML emails too, which would be super nice Wink), with language files used for content. As for language files, I'd like to have language file inheritance somehow, so language strings you edit in the ACP would add an inherited language pack which wouldn't be overwritten on upgrade (only language strings you save would end up being inherited).

Hi,

Your feature suggestion has been accepted as a planned feature to be implemented in MyBB 2.0. Thanks for your contribution!

losing the custom edits after an upgrade is one of the reasons I never bothered with doing the edits for 1.8.X...I'm glad to see that this shouldn't be an issue in 2.0
