My index page takes around 4-5 seconds to load but my other pages take a second or less.

It is caused by userstyle.php with the hook functions_format_name

Please reply or PM if you can help fix the problem, willing to pay.

you can disable & uninstall that plugin & try using style usernames plugin

Unless you link to the plugin or post the code of the plugin there's not much anyone can do to help.

It has some custom modifications on it so i'd like to not post it.
