Change 'forum' directory/url name ?

So what I am trying to do is change the directory and URL of the MyBB
e.g. 
from mydomain.com/mybb to mydomain.com/forum
I have tried this method which was originally made for MyBB 1.6 so it didn't work.

if admin panel login is working then login to forum admin panel,
put forum offline,
if you are using Google SEO plugin then deactivate it
change board url at Site Details page of Configuration section,
then login to ftp / web host panel & change the folder name

if you have deactivated Google SEO plugin then activate it
look at the plugin location on the plugins page & follow the instructions
(you have to edit .htaccess file and replace earlier folder name with the new one ... etc)

That didn't seem to work.

Is it the htaccess.conf file I need to edit?
Also are there any other files I need to edit?
