MyBB support is always free no need to pay.

It sounds like your database server is down. If you're on a shared host, please put a ticket in with them. They might not know or perhaps they're already working to resolve the problem.

Make sure your database details are correct. If they are correct, you will need to contact your web host.

This occurs when your MySQL server is down or experiencing an issue and MyBB cannot connect to it. You will have to contact your host with this error message.
