Notification App for iOS/Windows/Android/Mac?

HI,
 I wondering if anyone would be able to guide towards some direction on how to get started with an integration app with MyBB, so that admins of my forums can view when there is a new post. I've found Forum Runner, but that looks like it hasn't been updated since 2012. I'm looking to make it so that I can either quick edit from the app, like responding to the forum, or just give the App user a link to the actual forum page. Does anyone know where I could obtain the code for the notification system for MyBB, or do i just need to find a setting in MyBB that allows me to set this up?
