Post Subjects

Calendar, archive, post icons ... and nothing new is being added. As far as this thread is concerned, i guess it's easy enough for the webmaster to remove the subject input from the newreply template.

This is precisely the reason why there are 'Polls' posted for this reason.

If the votes were a majority against the removal of a feature, then that feature will most likely NOT to be removed.

That's why Ben posted the 'polls' for that reason.

Keep. I use it a lot, let me explain.

I use this plug-in https://mods.mybb.com/view/internal-linking and have done since it was made. So if I was to link to a post in this thread it would say "RE: Post Subject" but if I can edit the post subject in a post I could link to something like "Post by Sarisisop"

For example we have a recipe thread and the first post has links to each post and looks something like this:

Meat Loaf

Chicken Livers

Chinese Chicken Salad

Sticky Pork Ribs

Withought the possibility to change the headings it will look like this:

RE: Recipes

RE: Recipes

RE: Recipes

RE: Recipes

RE: Recipes

Not good.  Sad

Ok, using your example.

Recipes can be made into a forum. (or category if desired)

Then the various recipes can be divided up into sub-forums.

Like this...

Forum: Recipes  Sub-forums:→ Beef Based → Chicken Based → Chinese → BBQ and so on.

If you had a thread that started out with the thread name 'Recipes', you can end up with literally hundreds of posts of recipes which would be hard to search for a specific recipe.

Imagine trying to change the post title for every post that other users will post but forget to change the post title.
It's a headache that admins do not need.

Just saying...

I change each one as they are posted, I don't get many so it's no big deal changing each one.

By using the internal linking you can find those recipes easy, there is no need to search. Just click "Sticky Pork Ribs" in the first post and you will go to the post with the recipe.

Let me give you another example: We have a locked thread with 12 different treatments available under prescription. Each post has all the information about one of those treatments. By changing the heading I can list all in the first post and you just need to click the one you are interested in to go straight to the relevant post.

If you don't mind changing the post titles, go for it.

It's too much of a hassle for an admin whose website has a lot of posting traffic.

I don't change every post. I only change the ones I want to be shown in the first post of the occasional thread.

But never mind. I have cast my voter.

Why the canned post?

I thought this was a feature that was voted to be removed.

So, what's up with this?

It’s a canned post because it’s a custom moderator tool. It is being accepted to depreciate the feature.
