Newsletter plugin?

I was just thinking if it was possible for there to be a plugin that automatically sends forum updates to the members, like it sends the forum stats, latest threads, and the newest forum announcement or something.. just a though rather than having to do it all manually

It should be possible. However, if you're going to be sending out emails regularly to a lot of people, you may well get your e-mail address blacklisted as spam. I suppose you could stagger the messages as you send them (batches of x) to try a prevent that.

Another point is that some web-hosts require mailing lists to be optional, so it probably would be a good idea to make a "Mailing List" group that people can sign-up to as their secondary user-group if they want to receive the newsletter and only send the e-mails to people who are part of that group.
