I'm just setting up a new mybb forum and suddenly this happened:

If you have previously set up any MyBB with current URL and some custom themes, it might be the cache problem. Try force refresh (Ctrl + F5) this page.
Could be wrong but worth a try.

Oh, sorry. I haven't tried customized choices on the default MyBB theme.

If you're using the default MyBB theme/template, you might have selected Leaf as the Base Color and Modern as the Editor Style. The Modern Editor Style is the one you are complaining about. Have a test with other Editor Style options in ACP > Templates & Style > Theme > Default.
Could be wrong but worth a try.
