Man, did you figure this out, I  see what you are saying, you want to parse links directly into the editor without having to use the url inserter? Now you can, but you have to know how to use the correct mycode function, and you need to paste it in the "Source Mode" editor, then click back to the basic editor and your video will show: here is the mycode

[video=youtube]https://www.youtube.com/EXAMPLE%[/video]

but again, you need to place your YouTube url within the mycode, but to parse links directly without mycode, you will need a plugin. Do you want to discuss this further?
