How to get emails sent for user activation

Hi everyone. I have a new message board, and I forgot how to set up emails to be sent for user activation. I searched for it online, but I could not find any good threads. Can someone refresh my mind how to do it? I have Dreamhost.

MyBB is automatically set up to send emails for account activation, if you're having issues receiving them you should make sure that the your Mail PHP extension is up to date. Otherwise, you can use SMTP to send emails as well, which would be less likely to end up in peoples spam folder.
