I want to close archive mode. I didn't see point for archive settings on my admin panel.

Remove the link in templates, and add a rule in your webserver to forbid it access

Yes, first remove the link in the Footer Template.

If you wish to entirely disable the archive mode, then just delete (or rename) the ./archive folder - so it is not accessible anymore.
There is no need to add a any additional htaccess rule to your webserver.
