I got this error since I was trying to enable mybb messenger in PHPMyAdmin:

MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.

SQL Error:
1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MariaDB server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1

SELECT fid FROM mybb_threads WHERE tid=

how can I solve this and what do I need to fill-in?

What do you mean when saying "enable mybb messenger in PHPMyAdmin" ?
And I don't think that MyBB Messenger does queries in mybb_threads
