New Thread Bar Dropdown Showing Code

Hello,
I'm posting this AGAIN (because it was moved to the bogus forum) as I'm not sure if it's a bug but it sure does look like one and I don't know how to fix it. I DID NOT have this problem in 1.2.8 until I uploaded 1.2.9.

The dropdowns in the new thread bar look like this:

I've re uploaded all of the files and still it shows up like that.

My new thread bar now looks like this because of those long lines showing the code:

Any ideas how to fix this or where the problem is at?

Currently hosting on powweb and running the following:
PHP Version 5.2.1
MyBB version 1.2.9

Wow, it was actually marked bogus without an explanation??? That doesn't make sense.

Anyway, I'm sure others will be quick to tell you that there is no way that the upgrade from 1.2.8 to 1.2.9 did this, since that was just a security update. How are you so sure it didn't happen from 1.2.7 to 1.2.8? There wasn't that much time between the updates.

It was marked as bogus because it wasn't a bug, and the most likely causes is 1) A code modification 2) A plugin

When something abnormal like this happens in my forum the first thing I reconsider is whether or not the plugins or themes I'm currently using are compatible with the MyBB version I'm using or not. That's why disabling the plugins is always recommend before performing an upgrade. May I ask, what plugins are you using? Did overwrite any files, using old ones, after the upgrade?

What I did was a major overhaul on my website. I have always applied the updates as they came out.

Don't have any plugins installed. Hardly any of the original files have changed except for things like the header and footer (to match the rest of my site)

Well I started going through all of the template modifications and as soon as I removed this

<script type="text/javascript" src="/jscripts/lightbox.js"></script>

from headerinclude the problem went away. It looks like lightbox 2 isn't compatible with MyBB. I'll have to look into it more. It used to work just fine.

Prototype.js is not compatible with the 1.2. series of MyBB.

It will, however, work fine in 1.4 and we will be shipping prototype.js with MyBB 1.4.

Thanks for the explanation Chris. So it's MyBB 1.4 and not Prototype JavaScript framework, version 1.4.0? Just a bit confused as my Prototype.js version is 1.4. Skipping MyBB 1.3 then?

Here's our version cycle: [Wiki: Versions] (Broken link, head over to docs.mybb.com instead) - MyBB 1.2 uses a "light" version of prototype.js, however 1.4 uses the full version to take use of all of the effects and functions
