I am assuming since it is open source we can modify the myBB php scripts.

If I have posted anything here which is against the rules, please tell me or delete the post but please do not ban me.

Hi there, I see no reason to stop you from using MyBB for your project. Please read the following page regarding support eligibility :

Even if you don't comply with the policy, you are still allowed to make use of the script (MyBB) as long as you don't violate its open source license.
