I've noticed that a lot of plugins only work good on a custom theme/template, why is that?

When I install on a different theme it works. On the default theme it doens't display tags on homepage. example: https://m4tr1x.online/forum/ Other plugins too. https://github.com/halilselcuk/MyBB-Prof...ic-Plugin/ it works when I use a different theme, default it just doesnt display at all.
