what is "the bam plugin"?

maybe this plugin isn't ready for PHP8 and should not longer be used

I guess it's BAM Announcement Manager (https://community.mybb.com/mods.php?action=view&pid=121) and it works well with PHP 8 (used on https://forum.eggdrop.fr without any trouble)

Any plugin i instal just won't work.... I'm starting to think this just isn't for me. It's indeed the announchement plugin.. I've also installed the 'plugin installer' --- and that also won't install ANY plug. Seriously frustrating.

Thanks, i tried that as well. Can i do it without ftp stuff? That's also something really hard for me. I don't see anything about ftp on the page you shared btw, but in other pages i read it was needed..

You don't necessarily need an FTP for a small plugin like this. In the download package (after you unzip it) you'll notice a folder called 'Upload'. Open that folder and compress the contents into a .zip file - there should be 2 folders in there called 'admin' and 'inc'.

Upload that .zip file to your forums root directory (http://www.website.com/forum/). Your root directory is the location where your MyBB installation is installed.

Unzip the .zip file.

Go back to your forums and navigate to Admin CP > Configuration > Plugins

You should see the plugin there. Press 'Activate & Install'. Once activated, navigate to Admin CP > Configuration > Settings and down the very bottom of that page you'll see the settings for the plugin.
