I indeed can see why you'd use it on your site:p I think it would too, but as I said before in this thread - I'm not going to start working on any plugins until probably January 10th, or maybe later unless my schedule opens up.

Wanted to make a suggestion on that IM Tom,

I thought maybe just making it so 2 users only can use it would be nice so it didn't take away from forum posting. I think something that allows everyone into one room let's say is like a chat program and defeats the purpose of a IM.. Just a thought.

Not necessarily sure if I'll make that plugin. I'm looking at making things more geared towards easier things, to build up my skills at making plugins. I'll try and do the core tonight, though..
