I'm basically new to the whole forum creation thing, i have participated in many of them and right now i'm just getting so frustrated trying to figure this out..
I have several questions! :(
First of all i downloaded this template thing that i thought i could just like upload it and get it to work, i'm assuming that a template is the look of the main forum? if not maybe it's called a theme or style or something.
i downloaded it here http://www.wowcr.net/styles/#intro i have no idea how to make my forum look like that using this, all i know is i downloaded it, and it's currently saved on my computer.
I am not computer illiterate so just generally speaking i'm searching this admin control panel for an upload or some sort of shell that i can put these files in or something, but all i've found is image upload.
That's my main concern, trying to change the apearence of this forum.
My other problem is this, i am trying to get my forum to work using this thing, i guess it's a plugin, it's called eqDKP (dragon kill points) it's a sort of plugin that keeps track of points used and gained on a MMORPG between a guild of friends, the game World of Warcraft. i downloaded this "plugin" here http://eqdkp.com/?p=download and got a whole bunch of files and subdirectories saved in my program files, i just want to know how to get it to work with my forum. This is one forum that uses this plugin and they have a cool looking "template" or "theme" i guess http://support.guildomatic.com/ this is another that uses this plugin and the person who made this forum is the one who told me where to download the plugin http://forums.immortalisaeternum.com/ i just have no idea how to get it on my forum..
on my control panel there's a "plugin manager" link but all it does is show a sample plugin that lets me activate/deactivate it but there is no type of like "add" or "upload" or anything..
i'm at a complete loss and please don't think i just glanced through all this i've litterally been at this computer for 6 hours going through every option in my control panel and google trying to find some option/tutorials as to how to install these 2 things on my forum, as well as downloaded about 200mb's worth of FTP clients, (don't think i need any) some Mysql thing which was over 100mb's, and a ton of other crap i probably don't need.
no tutorial helps and the moment i read a topic header on this forum that looks like it may help, i open it and it's like "oh hi, about templates... my database projector binary setup key log is running on 2dash4niner beta blah blah" i have no clue what anyone is talking about >.<
i just want my forum to look cool and to get this DKP plugin to work so i can get my guild running, if anyone can help me out with this i'd appreciate it, thank you. and i apologize for the long post =X
