Exactly what I thought when I read it. If they were honest with me and said their servers are not configured properly or something along those lines then I may given them another chance.

Another nail in the coffin for Dreamhost. A user reported the below SQL error.

MyBB SQL Error

MyBB has experienced an internal SQL error and cannot continue.

SQL Error:
2013 - Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 111
Query:
[READ] Unable to connect to MySQL server

You could be right. But at this point I need better customer support.
Ideally what should the "SQL" part in the the debug be at. Here's my current specs after the patches where applied.

SQL Queries: 20 / Global Parsing Time: 1.4451270 / Memory Usage: 7.5 MB
PHP version: 5.2.6 / Server Load: 0.27 / GZip Compression: Enable

MySQL is usually no more than 15% for most pages. Page generation time should usually be 0.0x seconds... doesn't really matter how much % of that was PHP and MySQL then. With page generation times that are almost always >0.1 seconds, the forum will feel slow. With page generation times >1 second, the forum becomes unuseable. With page generation times like yours, you can just as well shoot yourself. Wink

I just signed up with KnownHost. Now the fun of moving begins. Anyone have a good "how-to" on how to move? I'm sure I can search and find one.

This is the basics of what you'd need to do.

Backup your forum files and entire database (obviously). With a forum of your size I highly recommend you upload your files and database to a localhost installation or test forum to make sure it's complete and you don't get any SQL errors when it's importing.

Transfer the name servers of your domain, make sure you won't need it pointing to the current host for any reason before you change it.

When you can, create a new database on the new host and import your database backup to it.

Upload all of your files, and edit ./inc/config.php to point to the new database.

Ah man I thought it would be as easy as downloading all my forum files locally, upload them to the new host create a new database then importing my backup. You threw me a screwball with the localhost installation.

I knew about the name server thing as well as editing ./inc/config.php file.

Well, you don't have to do a localhost test if you don't want to, but I'd want to make sure my backup was complete and fully working if it was this size. You can just download them and upload them to the new host if you want but if there's a problem with it, it'd be on a live site... I mean if you upload the files to a live site, and when you're importing the database, there's an error, there'll be an error on the live site... happened to me a few times with some forums, there was an error importing and there was a nice SQL error showing on the forums, so I test on a localhost forum first. But it's up to you.

Well, luckily I'll have my original web host until December. This will give me time to make sure everything is smooth on the new one. Does that sound like a good plan?

*edit*
Anyway I can trim the database size?

Only by removing data. Wink

Optimising it will remove a little bit of excess data, there is an option to do that each time a backup is made.
