It would be a great plugin.
Just generate the page where the user add the email of the person that he wants to invite and them it will decrease the number of invitations available. You could get invitations doing some other things like posting...

BUT NOT LIMITED FOR ONLY INVITED PEOPLE CAN REGISTER.
