"Unknown Location"
#1
I'm using the MyBB login system for my website. People browsing the main site appear in the Users Online list, which is good, but it says their location is "Unknown Location" (when you click it, it goes to the correct URL.) Is there a way to fix that?

I think you would have to make some code edits but as far as i know that is not possible.

I figured it out, the code I needed to edit is in the file functions_online.php.

Is anyone else still having this problem in MyBB 1.6? I did the code fix of editing the old code to $filename = substr($split_loc[0], -my_strpos(strrev($split_loc[0]), "/")); in the functions_online.php but am still getting the Unknown Location.

Is the next step to contact the host server? If so, what do I tell them?

Labrocca made that a while ago.
I'm not here often, shoot a PM or whatever if you want my discord.

I contacted the server and here is what they responded with:

What version are they looking for -- are they talking about PHP's
mbstring package?

You can see the details on our installed version here:
http://phpinfo.dreamhosters.com/phpinfo.php

If you need a version newer than the one we have installed (which is the
one that comes with PHP 5.2.14), then you'd need to manually compile PHP
-- we sadly don't custom compile PHP for customers.

You can do this through these instructions, though, depending on what
version you need:
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Installing_PHP5

Hopefully this helps!

If you have any more questions or concerns, please let me know.

I did the steps above mentioned in the wiki sentence, but everything was already set to what they wanted me to change it tol.

Guess I may be out of luck with this one. I looked at the http://community.mybb.com/thread-55762.html thread above but it didn't really help me out. It was all Greek to me...sorry. Sad

Maybe you have unknown location for a completely different reason. Please elaborate, or give a link to your site, so we can see where the unknown location links are pointing for you.

My site is at www.avbbf.com. I think you have to be a member to look at the Who's Online list. That is where an occasional Unknown Location comes up at.
