[Installing] Change of Host

I had a live forum that had several contributors. My hosting expired and I was not able to get in and export anything. All i have is a complete copy of everything that was on my old host. I have a new host now. i created a database, copied all the old files to the host and then edited the config file to point at the new database.

This didn't work as I still get an error message. is there any way that I can recover all the historical posts and my forum structure.

I'm not incredibly techie but can follow instructions.

It's a host problem, the MySQL server has denied access to host "global-linux.co.uk"
