some suggestions for mybb 2.0

1.of the most as developers said the theme by default has to e changed.

2.i would like to suggest to make the profile, more user friendly, just as it helps,to make the members, more feel like a social forum.
just say a facebook like profile..just like this link, and activity seen in a sidebox in index.

3.as in ipb i suggest a recent facebook activities,on index.

4.index with few sideboxes,easy to customise,with html/java scripts....like we can add a facebook like box/a clock/any code of choice.

5.share buttons in every post..32x32 icons....

6.drop down menu and navigation has to be modified.....

7.security enhancement,to prevent vulnerable attacks, and to counter act.

8.a feed back/suggestion page.......guest page would be more impulsive.

few more ideas will be added in short

I want a more user-friendly profile, not sure I want a full social networking one though.

Keep it to a plugin.

You can already do this with plugins and simple template changes. Like the profiles I'm not sure I'd want this in the default package. I, for one, wouldn't use it very much.

Ties into the theme really. 5 I can see but what do you mean by 6?

Quote:7.security enhancement,to prevent vulnerable attacks, and to counter act.

Already in the works since the beginning of MyBB.

Quote:8.a feed back/suggestion page.......guest page would be more impulsive.

Add a forum for guests.

I think MyBB is already pretty good! If I were to ask for anything, it would mostly be cosmetic...

Thread hoover previews

Optional thread description field

New theme/graphics

Optional but supported photo gallery and blog addons would be nice

If you want to get really serious, any of the magic that XThreads can do!

I can't help but say how awesome that sounds. Quoted.

I think mybb is phenomenal as a forum software. I repeat a forum software! As others has mentioned, I would find it very distracting if it was bloated with social networking features. I would rather to leave that as a plugin so users can choose to add it or not. Bloating the software with unnecessary features can lead to more problems than it's worth.

With that being said, i would like to see a few smaller changes implimented:
1. Add facebook and Twitter to the userCP contact items (this is as close to social networking features as I would like to see)

2.As far as profiles go, maybe (and this is just an idea) provide optional profile "blocks' that can be enabled and disabled in acp. Now making use of drag and drop for these blocks, much like the feature for forum permissions are currently, would be awesome but maybe that would be pushing it. But this would allow more customization for people that are template challenged.
As for what content will be contained in these blocks, well, that may take some debating.

3. Maybe use more sprites wherever possible instead of individual images

4. The "Find" button in postbit should work similar to the edit button. When clicked should provide the option of finding either all posts or all threads of the poster.

5. Improve the editor. I'm not suggesting a wysiwyg editor because personally I don't like them. But maybe include an optional dropdown menu that custom mycodes can be added to. Selecting the item from the dropdown will insert the custom mycode. I'm currently using a plugin to accomplish this but it requires core file edits which I despise doing.

Many of these can be added by making a few template edits, but would be nice to see in the stock mybb package. #2 may be a bit out there but hey...one can dream, right? lol

I had another idea for 2.0:

Create some kind of standard for a theme's folder structure, then make 2.0 able to extract it from an uploaded .zip file (including the theme's .xml file) so that adding themes to your forum is as easy as clicking a few buttons. It could also work for plugins as well...

one more idea.......is to create usergroups by regular users that members can join....,and as well these groups can be regulated by admin...

for example.....id a user created a group called "justin beiber"....and the users who like him,can join the group, updates can be notified by the mail, and these groups can be linked in index...just aside memberlist as "groups"

I have a suggestion, I think the system should be signed and perfecting similar to Vbulletin, is the only thing I like in vbulletin, the login system and vbnavbar I think it should be deployed in MyBB and still like to see a plugin system, plugins by importing the type of forum instead of FTP, what do you think?
