yes. create a channel at mibbit.com for free and you can use their irc server address
irc.mibbit.com

this is like owning a private irc server but you are restricted from some options and you must comply with their rules for using on your site.

IRC Servers are freely available, check out http://searchirc.com to see a lot of irc networks.

This plugin uses your users forum nick (so for me, if it was installed here on MyBB.com, it would give me the nick of "MadMikeyB"), but as irc and forums are different beasts, it doesnt register an account for them on irc or anything like that.

I've installed and configured the modification and changed the $forumdir however I keep getting the following error:
