Set ProPortal as first page (homepage)

I used search (on this forum), google it 3 or 4 days, asked, etc etc...

I want to use ProPortal as firstpage. My forum is on www.domain.com so i need when you go to www.domain.com first page that appears is ProPortal...

I had installed the portalredirect (plugin) - not working (redirects to portal page, but you cannot go to main (forum), it just sends you to /portal.php

Tried that code in htacces.txt - not working (nothing happens)

Any help please ?

I have a simpler method of just changing .htaccess in cpanel u can have ur proportal ready as home page


how it works:

suppose your site is

so if you want a custom made page or,portal
page as main page
like when u click

here how you can do it.


1.create a file called .htaccess(do not add any suffixes like .txt,.doc etc...)

2.open the file with text editor and add this code below if you want portal as home page

Code: D i r e c t o r y I n d e x p o r t a l .p h p

if you want any other page just replace portal
with your page title

3.upload it to your forum root via ftp and it is done.

My htacces file in FTP root is .txt file ... is there a problem with that ???

Added DirectoryIndex portal.php in htaccess, and still not working ...

Yeap. Just rename your "htaccess.txt" file to "htaccess" (whithout any extension). And will work.

@Envira, your method really has problems. Whenever somebody clicks the logo, they'll be taken to the portal, when usually on other forums it takes them to the forum list.

The post ranjani referenced to will fix all that.

Home means the main page and here he wants portal as main page.
And naturally index.php is replaced by portal.php

So if his site is www.abcd.com
It should go to portal page which he desires not index.

U can check my site : www.mimspace.com for a demo.
In main menu i had a link for index page labelling forum.
So i recommend this method as it is easy and error free.
