You have created the album, but it is empty until you add images to it.
After you have created the album by uploading your first image, you do the following to make your album appear:
1. Go to your public profile and click on the album image.
2. Using the menu on the left, click "Upload New Image."
3. Enter title and description.
4. Upload an image.
5. Go back to your public profile.
6. Click the album image.
7. See your newly created album.
8. Upload your remaining images.
Regarding the earlier uploading issues: The album in the plug-in upload is misnamed. The "U" in uploads should be lowercase.
