  "Mark Forums Read" does nothing
Posted by: Downfall - Today 12:02 AM - No Replies

Hey there,

A note before I start rambling - I have made subtle changes to template files and added jquery elements in, so I'm wondering about conflicts here.

The forum icons to the left of a forum at this present moment do nothing at all. I've tried to troubleshoot it, and it seems like for some reason, Prototype won't recognise the ajax command.

I'm not exactly a javascript star, so this is confusing for me. I've checked the headerinclude template and replaced it with one from a working theme (it works on other themes), and that had no effect.

I also replaced the forum bit templates with the previous iteration which was working, and it has changed nothing unfortunately.

So at this point... I'm stumped. Help, oh knowledgeable ones? Smile

  Moved Directory
Posted by: Flawless - Yesterday 11:05 PM - No Replies

Hello, so I recently changed my MyBB directory from the root to a sub-directory of /forums. Before I go into depth, I followed Matt's tutorial here: as I can't login into the main index or my AdminCP. I also cleared my cookies and tried with different browsers, but no change. Anyways, I edited the .inc/settings.php.

I changed these settings (what they are after the change)

$settings['bburl'] = "";
$settings['cookiedomain'] = "";
$settings['cookiepath'] = "/forums/";

As I previously said, I cleared my browser's cookies and tried multiple different browsers and no change.

I also cannot go into the AdminCP; once I login and try to go to 'Settings', it kicks me off and makes me sign in again.

I also attempted to delete the settings.php and a new one was generated, but after clearing cookies, no change again.

Any help would be great!

  Do you use SEO plugins?
Posted by: Senethic - Yesterday 10:45 PM - Replies (2)

Hi all,

I see that MyBB as well does not use a SEO plugin (rewriting URLS).
Is this still needed? I'm not familiar with SEO so I don't know. What I do know is that threads as /thread-4281941 are not "friendly". You will get linked more often when /thread-SEO-help-tutorial.

Does your forum run this SEO plugin?

  Notice/Popup when users accidentally close a tab/window before finishing their post
Posted by: Gobee129 - Yesterday 02:57 PM - No Replies

Hey guys,

well I tried to google this topic in many different ways, but I couldnt find any solution. I think it would be very handy if there's a popup/notice/warning whenever users close a page before finishing their text. Be it a new post, thread, edit, quick reply or PM, whenever users use the texteditor, there is the risk of losing all content when you accidentally close the tab/window.

I know that if you click on "return" in your browser, the text is still there and you can continue it, but that does not work if you close the window/tab completely, so a confirmation request before closing the tab would be extremely useful.

Can this be done via a function in javascript or via a plugin maybe?

Thanks Smile

  SQL Error #1064
Posted by: cachip - Yesterday 08:44 AM - Replies (1)

Hey guys,

I'm trying to import my database after my host forced me to do it.
Since it's too large for PHPMyAdmin, I had to split it using SQL DumpSplitter2.

After that, I have a file to upload in order to set up the structure of my database, and then I can fill it with the other files.

The problem appears when I try to upload the structure. I get the following error message :

#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'CREATE TABLE `mybb_adminlog` (
`uid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
' at line 21

Here's what appears after line 21 :

CREATE TABLE `mybb_adminlog` (
`uid` int(10) unsigned NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`ipaddress` varchar(50) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
`dateline` bigint(30) NOT NULL DEFAULT '0',
`module` varchar(50) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
`action` varchar(50) NOT NULL DEFAULT '',
`data` text NOT NULL,
KEY `module` (`module`,`action`)

INSERT INTO `mybb_adminlog` VALUES (1, '', 1393837060, 'user-users', 'inline_delete', 'a:1:{i:0;i:6;}');

Here's the detail of the screen :

Do you have an idea ? I just can't see where it comes from.

P.S. : it actually happens for all the tables...

  messaging & notification question
Posted by: Shemo - Yesterday 03:59 AM - No Replies

which option should I look for in the mybb_users table when this option is checked in a user's cp?:

"Notify me by email when I receive a new Private Message."

.....and what should the value show if that option is checked?

a user is saying that he has that option checked in his user cp, but when I send him a PM and tail the mail log, it does not show that an e-mail was sent from the mail server.

I seem to be able to see the data in the mail log when I send and receive test messages under my account on the forum...
