Question about the who's online list
Posted by: CheckingThis - 5 hours ago - Forum: General Support - No Replies

Every now and then I will look at the Who's Online list and I will see something like this, where a user will be shown as reading a thread but it WON'T show which thread:

Username   03:14 AM  Reading Thread

I'm wondering how this can be?  I have all Admin rights and can view every thread on my boards, so how is it that in some rare instances the Who's Online page won't show me which thread a user is viewing?  Is this a known bug with MyBB?  How can I determine what thread that user is viewing when it fails to load the thread title/link?

Some of my members have checkout that they can receive private message. Is it possible to enable this for all of this users by a query?

How can I disable apostrophes and quotes from user names?
Posted by: CheckingThis - Yesterday, 11:32 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

There seem to be some plugins (such as event log and user tagging) that have problems when a user's name has an apostrophe or a quote (the ' and the " character)  in their username.  How can I make it so those characters are not accepted in a user name at sign up or when they change their username?

  Merge User DB
Posted by: lawbreaker - Yesterday, 04:22 PM - Forum: General Support - Replies (6)

Hey guys,
i am going to install 3 Forums each one for every language.

Is it possible to merge the User DB Table?

So if a user register on german Forum, he should be able to log himself in in the other forums with the same login and pw?

While trying to check mark all forums as read, the following error occurs:

Authorization code mismatch. Are you accessing this function correctly? Please go back and try again.

Could anybody figure out the reason for this error?

  Wordpress Integration & Multisite question
Posted by: regularj0e28 - Yesterday, 09:41 AM - Forum: General Support - No Replies

Hello, I am new to the community as well as MyBB. I had 2 questions, and if they could be explained is layman's terms, It'd greatly be appreciated.

1. Is using one database for Members possible? I think am starting to run an Online gaming community for Sports gaming (Madden, Fifa, NBA 2k, etc..), and I am running multiple leagues, all with their own sub-domain and site. While the site will be for user-created content, and updates the online gaming communities run heavily on forums, Thus I think it'd be tedious to constantly have to register for different forums across the map, and having to remember all of your username and passwords...

2. As I stated above, I am running a network of leagues via Wordpress Multisite. Is there anyway to have multiple MyBB forums set up on one Multisite install to where they each have their own settings, and boards?

For any information you'd like to e-mail me directly if need be, you can reach me at [email protected]

Thank you in advance, and sorry if I was confusing, or lacked clarity in my questioning.

Is there way to get the new user to see rules first ?
Posted by: sadaruwan12 - Yesterday, 08:38 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (2)

I'm building a new forum using myBB what I want to know is that is there a way to get the new user to land on to a page that describes forum rules once he put a tick and submit he get in to the forum or his profile. I searched for this but didn't come across this.

If the above action is not achievable please let me know of an alternative way.

Thank you

Posted by: Neovo - Yesterday, 07:50 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (3)

So I installed a new forum and I uploaded some plugin files to inc/plugins but for some reason the acp plugin page is empty? Like, there's something missing? I reuploaded the index.html but still nothing. What's wrong?

Bug Enable search engine friendly URLs Option Not Working
Posted by: MI-6 - Yesterday, 02:52 AM - Forum: General Support - Replies (4)

I am trying to get the Enable search engine friendly URLs option to work on my site, but when I enable it and rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess it gives me this page when I go to any forum or subforum on my site:

Quote:The page cannot be found!

The page you have requested cannot be found on this server.

HTTP 404 - File Not Found

How can I fix this?

EDIT: This is the contents of the .htaccess file:
Options -MultiViews +FollowSymlinks -Indexes

# - Note, this will work on the majority of hosts but on
#   MediaTemple, it is known to cause random Internal Server

    # Turn off mod_security filtering.
    SecFilterEngine Off

    # The below probably isn't needed, but better safe than sorry.
    SecFilterScanPOST Off
