yup thnx. also im thinking of changeing the site and color of the copy right info on the main page of the forum. what file is that located in. the reason im doing that is so it matchs the color/picture changes i made,

The copyright is located inside the footer template.
But make sure the copyright stays intact.

You can edit the template using a built-in Template Manager via the Admin CP.
It is located on the side menu near the bottom.
To edit template you find it in the menu and click "Modify / Delete" you then click "Expand" and you can edit how your MyBB can look.
It uses HTML and built-in MyBB variables.

i rather use the files to edit... what folder is it in? and what file? because im running it for a friend on my ftp and i dont no the admin info so i just want to chnage the color for the copy right from the files and thats it.

The only way to edit templates is through the Admin CP, or the SQL Database.

thats kind of impossible. the copy right info HAS to be in 1 of the files on the server....

No, you don't understand what Ryan said.
Basically theres no files for you to edit, etc. You do not need to access the FTP to change the copyright.
Basically MyBB do not store the copyright in files, it is stored in the Templates.
Login to your
Admin CP -> Templates -> Modify/Delete -> *YOUR THEME SET* -> Expand -> footer
