How much Ram you use on average a normal day on you computer?
Me i use about 1.3 gigs on xp and about 1.2 on windows 7.
When browsing, using IM and listening to music, about 370mb.
Sometimes I only have the browser open, that's 220mb.
It depends, normal use is about 1.8-2gb because I usually have a browser, iTunes and visual studio open. But if I'm rendering it can go up to like 13-14gb
[root@office ~]# free -m
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 2004 1118 885 0 86 548
-/+ buffers/cache: 484 1520
Swap: 4015 152 3863
FF4, httpd, mysqld, pidgin & wine.
Usually I'll have Zend Studio or Aptana open too so that's about 2 GB average.
On Windows 7 atm: 1.67GB Got Chrome, Notepad++, Git GUI, Aptana Studio, VLC and RIM's Ripple open.
When I'm booting crunch bang, it's tons lower.
However, I'd like to know how everyone is measuring RAM usage in windows?
I'm going off the physical memory used via Task Manager, but this is a completely inaccurate measurement
I too am going off my physical memory usage Tom
From 2GB to 6GB, depends on the day.
My PC acts as a Media server as well since we have Media Players on several TVs.
I give the PC a good reboot once every week or two.
But there's tons of Explorer.exe instances eating up the memory for sure, lol.
Currently ~1.8, but I'm also listening to
this and installing updates so that doesn't help. OTOH I also tend to have iTunes and WoW or just Skyrim open so those tend to use a bunch of RAM. I'd say between 2-4GB RAM on average.
