I' am having the same problem. I think it is the tcat and thead classes not accepting changes in your theme under global.css. All colours are in that class and inherited from the mybb main theme. So I' am surmising it is an inheritance issue. I want to change the blue tcat too #ab1616 (a red) and the black thead too #2d32c4 (a blue). I did it in global.css and all the other style sheets are formatting, fine tuning margins, padding, and stuff.I noticed the there is transparent .pngs in images with the tcat name. Oh, I changed the background attributes from the blue and black to my red and blue in gloabl.css of tcat and thead, to be clear.
