I have never particularly cared what the last ~3 letters of a domain were.
If I had to choose for my own website, it would be .com because of popularity. If it's your site though, any TLD will do.

I remember when website.ws had an almost pyramid scheme going with .ws domains >_>
I wouldn't touch ws with a barge poll, on the end of another barge poll....

Uhm, no? The TLD has nothing to do with SEO, unless you're talking about the way people remember the site. Apart from that, cutie343.com and cutie343.net have the exact same SEO opportunities disregarding their TLD.
.net for forums and .com for everything else.
