It really is making money from popular domains. There's far too much evidence and the people who said their domain was still up an running months and years ago now have their domain parked on directories.

Even if the domain is free does not mean they're the sole owners of that domain and can do whatever they want to it.

You should always always get a paid domain for your serious projects and stick to ips and free domains for anything that will never ever go anywhere.
It's not a scam, their TOS clearly says they are the legal owners and can do whatever they want with the free .tk domains.
If you pay for the .tk they won't take it away, but if you accept their free domain then they'll have ownership no matter what.
It would be a scam IF you paid for the domain name and they did this, but they do state in the TOS that they are the owners, plus it's a free domain name that they are giving you. Like many have said on here, it's up to you if you are wanting to make your site grow and grow by buying your own domain and not use "free" domains.
TOS is what they make up it doesn't make it right.

If I gave you money and took the money away whenever I want and then sold your possessions to make some more money I would be a bank and no one likes banks.
No, it's nothing like that. They are letting you "borrow" the domain free of charge. They can take it back when they like. You all agree to this when you get the domain. If its that much of a problem, get a real domain. Then you'd have no such issues.

It's like somebody lending you a pen, it's not yours, you don't own it, and they can take it back whenever they like...
They giving out free services and you are using it. How come you can say them as scam!

Free never be tasted good!
This is completely different to a pen. The domain is there so people can visit the users content. You take the domain away and the content is useless.

If you have generated 2000 members that's earning you $50/month from revenue. They take the domain away, they take your profits, your visits and your reputation.

You can't just take away someones domain no matter if it's borrowed. There needs to be

1. warnings of approaching domain snatching.
2. a way to purchased that domain outright before they take it
3. An appeal board
4. a week to prepare your site for a domain move and to warn your visitors of any downtime

Until they can provide the above it's a scam and they know exactly what they're doing.

It's your own fault for not purchasing a domain. If you're earning $50/month, you can certainly afford a domain for less than $10/year.

Has everyone hit a brick wall?

Why should it be anyone's fault?

Dot tk clearly advertise their domains as a free alternative to a tld. They allow you to use it and when you get a certain amount of popularity it's parked to earn money from your hard work?

They do not tell you they're going to do this. They may hold the legal right to the domain but you as the user have no possible idea of what might happen later on.

How is that not a scam? There needs to be a 3rd party to check up on these sites and how they're operating to ensure their users are not being mistreated.

I don't mean to be rude but you guys are only pointing out your views. Anyone could say well it was free so it's your fault. In the end it's not your fault it's their plan they know what they're doing you don't.
