Ok now that I got RC 4 pretty much set up to the way I want it - any insight into the details of what it takes to upgrade. Do I have to go thru everything again and make the changes?
I'm use to the IPB upgrades where you just replace the files effected and script to make any database chages.
I'm in no rush for the final, just curious as to what to expect.
Well the upgrade process is similar to IPB in the fact you upload the files and run a script to make any DB changes. However, the final release is going to make a whole lot of changes in regards to themes and templates, so as was with the RC releases, any customised templates and themes will probably be lost. The new theme structure makes it pretty much impossible to import a theme from an old version (pre Gold that is).
Forums, posts, threads, users etc will still be perfectly intact.
Pity about the themes... but I think it's worth it
