- or a good subject
- and you're "desperate for members"

One of the biggest misconceptions is that people will join your forum if you need members. They won't. Members aren't there to help you. Your site should be there to help your (potential) members. What are you offering them? Why should they join?

It eventually goes to a forum with the default theme. Even better!

It doesn't eventually go to a forum unless I have to wait a few years for it to show up?

Just reload the page then I think it works? That is what happened to me when I first visited.

Before starting a forum, come up with a niche please.
