where can i download the 1.8 alpha to test it? i do not see it on github

Go to the MyBB repository, in the branch drop down (it is by default set to master), switch to feature, then download as a zip.

yeah i downloaded it now dont really like it because its slower then 1.6 series even on localhost

i think ill stick to 1.6 until 2.0 releases im unsure

honestly i do not see any difference in how 1.8 runs compared to 1.6 other then its slow down plugin/theme system all works the same from what i can tell.

1.8 isn't slower than 1.6. Have you actually performed any benchmarks?

Yes, i also not noticed any slowdowns comparing to 1.6.9

1.8 seems faster to me too.

I agree with others, 1.8 seems to have faster loading for me. Could possibly be your internet connection.
