MyBB 1.8 Alpha doesnt at all looked liked an edited or redefined version of mybb.

It only looks like some theme inserted on mybb ... Not even a single area of code has been edited under templates.

This might quite OK if it is just with MyBB 1.8 because we are expecting lots of re-edits and new looks to the code & templates for mybb 2.0

Will MyBB 2.0 Be fully edited and have a new look than mybb 1.8 ?

Thanks Big Grin
2.0 is a complete code re-write and will have a different theme.

So, yes. It will most definitely be different to 1.8 - which should be noted, is not completed yet. So there could still be changes coming.

MyBB 1.8 was meant as nothing more than a face lift. I believe we accomplished this aim with a fresh look that bridges the gap between 1.6 -> 1.8 -> 2.0. There are many changes to templates; some subtle, some not, and there will be more when we convert to jQuery.

Hurray for implementing Gravatar!
RIP avatar gallery.
the move to (more?) jQuery really was a good decision imo.
But the MyBB 1.8 theme really should have been built with one of the open source attribution free CSS Responsive frameworks available. Frameworks like Zurb already use some jQuery for sliders and modals. If MyBB went that route it would have increased it's overall usefulness/user-friendly/&satisfaction ratings 10 fold in my opinion.
Btw.... it's not too late to do that. Toungue

edit:
btw this tid bit of information is promising!:
MyBB Wrote:Upgrading to 1.8
Upgrading to 1.8 will be similar to upgrading from 1.4 to 1.6; many plugins will only need to change their compatibility line and will only need some major changes if they use Prototype JavaScript, use login functions or make large theme changes. Throughout the beta period, we’ll be upgrading the Wiki with new information and providing support to plugin developers to help them with their new plugins.

Something to point out... Multi-quote REALLY should be enabled / function in quick edit by default.

It is not an option to rewrite all templates breaking all existing themes and plugins... This will happen with 2.0 anyway.
Yea, forgot about the functional use of html tables in MyBB.. I never did like the plugins that use <tables> in themes and the reliance on them in MyBB 1.6.x... you guys did away with all tables in 1.8 right?

No. Tables form a critical part of displaying data in the 1.x series. To remove all of them would mean heavier modification of the core theme which is not acceptable for a minor release.

Unless we think of different things when you say multi-quote and quick reply, this is already a feature.

Used to reply to your message in fact. Toungue

Quick EDIT, not Quick Reply.
